Resource Conservation & Development Program
/RC&D
Rural communities often find it difficult to locate and acquire funds and
other resources to improve the quality of life for their citizens. Opportunities
are available to support this endeavor, through the USDA's Resource Conservation
and Development Program (RC&D). RC&Ds work through councils of
local citizens and USDA staff to find resources to benefit rural communities.
Colorado has eight authorized
RC&D areas serving 45 of the
states 65 counties. These RC&Ds are active in the following projects
as well as many others:
- Assisting communities improve facilities to treat solid liquid waste
- Developing historic landmarks to attract tourism
- Developing local agricultural industries to provide employment in rural
Colorado
- Reducing encroachment of noxious weeds on rangelands and pasture land
- Implementing environmental education
- Developing parks and recreational facilities
- Initiating regional recycling projects
RC&D's goals are:
- To promote conservation development and use of natural resources
- To improve the general level of economic activity
- To enhance the environment and standard of living in communities
