Conservation Reserve Program/CRP

The Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) was authorized under the 1985 Food Security Act (FSA). The CRP offered long-term rental payments to farm owners to remove land from annual crop production. Lands with high erosion rates or lands contributing to a serious water quality problem were targeted. In addition, cost-share assistance was offered to establish permanent vegetative cover on enrolled land.

Program Participation

The majority of the total acres enrolled in Colorado are in the eastern third of the state.  For additional information contact the NRCS Colorado state office.
