Colorado Invasive Plant Program

Rio Grande Conservation District Project Area

The project area is located in Rio Grande County on the west side of the San Luis Valley.  The primary species of concern to be addressed are Black Henbane, Yellow Toadflax, Hoary Cress, Perennial Pepperweed, Canadian Thistle, and Field Bindweed.  Landowners, or groups of landowners, with property in this project area can apply for up to 50 percent cost-share assistance to suppress and control the spread of these targeted noxious weeds.  For additional information and detailed boundary data about this project area, e-mail NRCS District Conservationist Cynthia Crist or call her at the Monte Vista NRCS Field Office at 719.852.5114.

  • Review the Eligible Practice and Payment Rates for the Invasive Plant Species Program.
  • Review the Ranking Criteria and Screen Tools (below).
  • Complete and print the USDA Conservation Program Application Form CCC1200 (below)
  • Visit or call the USDA Service Center in your area to contact an NRCS staff person to assist you through the application process.
