NRCS Colorado Grassland Reserve Program/GRP
Overview
The Grassland Reserve Program/GRP helps
landowners and operators voluntarily restore and protect grassland, including rangeland
and pastureland, and certain other lands, while maintaining the areas as
grazing lands. Section 2401 of the
2002 Farm Bill (Security and Rural
Investment Act of 2002 -Pub. L. 107-171) authorizes the Grassland Reserve
Program/GRP. The GRP offers landowners opportunities to protect,
restore, and enhance grasslands. The GRP assists participants to
keep grasslands from conversion to cropland or other uses. During fiscal
year 2004, the focus will be on applications that do not require
restoration.
