COUNTIES AFFECTED and DEGREE AFFECTED: San Miguel County- Severe

DAMAGE ASSESSMENTS: 15,000 acres burned - pinyon pine, grass, and gambel oak. Location is 5 miles southwest of Norwood, CO. Involved Uncompahgre National Forest and the evacuation of Redvale and surrounding areas.  24 homes and 3 commercial buildings were threatened.

EWP ACTIONS TO DATE: EWP needs were developed and reviewed EWP with the District Conservationist.

HUMAN INTEREST EXAMPLES: Residences that were directly in the path of the passing fire were protected by fire crews.

URGENT PROBLEMS AND/OR NEEDS: (additional comments): There is extreme fire behavior with wind gusts of 50 mph.
