INITIAL REPORT X

COUNTIES AFFECTED and DEGREE AFFECTED: Mesa County including the area  southwest of Glade Park, Colorado.  The area is severely affected.

DAMAGE ASSESSMENTS: The burn includes 2468 acres including grass, sage brush, juniper, and pinyon pine on Bureau of Land Management, and on private lands. 575 acres are on private land. 

EWP ACTIONS TO DATE: The NRCS Damage Survey Report has been completed. Recommendations for alternative remediation practices have been developed.

HUMAN INTEREST EXAMPLES: Evacuation of 200 residences.

URGENT PROBLEMS AND/OR NEEDS: (additional comments): Steep terrain, high winds, and low humidity. There is an urgent threat of flooding to irrigation ditches and homes from potential monsoon rains in July. Approximately 150 acres of irrigated hay land is threatened with the potential loss of water.
