COUNTIES AFFECTED: and DEGREE AFFECTED: La Plata County is severely affected.

DAMAGE ASSESSMENTS:  7,000 acres have burned. Oak brush, Ponderosa Pine, mixed conifer forest, and grass are burning on the San Juan National Forest.  The burning area is 10 Miles North of Durango, Colorado.

EWP ACTIONS TO DATE: Gathering of data on burned area.

HUMAN INTEREST EXAMPLES: One historic cabin burned, and 9 homes are threatened.  

URGENT PROBLEMS AND/OR NEEDS: (additional comments) There is rapid fire growth, extreme fire behavior, and low humidity.
