URBAN

The spread of urban and built-up land has become a major concern as the open spaces are rapidly being developed to meet the demand for more housing. By using NRI data, along with other data sources, it is possible to estimate the patterns of land use change and the resulting impacts on the resource base. Urban land is determined by the definition used for the NRI. This may or may not include areas where parcels are 20 acres or more.
